We focus on the components of literacy to foster early literacy learning. 

• Alphabet Knowledge – Teachers help children to learn the 52 letters of the alphabet (upper and lower case), and make letter-sound connections.  Teachers also help children connect spoken and written words.

• Literacy for Enjoyment – Teachers encourage children to find enjoyment in literacy, daily. 

• Vocabulary and Language – Teachers promote vocabulary and language through literacy.   Children with strong vocabularies are more likely to become strong readers.

• Comprehension – Teachers support the process of making meaning of our language through literacy. 

We help children to understand print concepts and encourage children to write for a variety of purposes.  Teachers plan for literacy across all learning centers.
